Nonno’s opened its doors to the public on the 17th March 2011. Nonno’s translates literally as ‘Grandad’s’. When we opened our aim was to provide exceptional food at sensible prices provided by enthusiastic and friendly staff. The aim is the same today. We try hard to give you a memorable and authentic experience and will always welcome your feedback to ensure that we are the best that we can be.

Santo Calderone

General Manager/Proprietor

Santo originates from the Calabria region of Italy famous for its beautiful coastline and vast mountains. Santo relocated to Derbyshire with his parents and siblings in the 1970’s to make a better life for themselves. Years later he met the love of his life Romina and they are now happily married and blessed with a son, Carlo.

Romina Calderone

General Manager/Proprietor

Romina was born in Derbyshire and is therefore able to provide a valuable insight into, and an affinity with the people of the area as Nonno’s combines the best of Italy and England.

Gianpaolo Foddis

Head Chef/Proprietor

Proud father of Romina, Gianpaolo originates from the village of Tertenia in Sardinia, Italy. He moved to England in 1974 having developed his skills throughout Italy and wider Europe in many restaurants. In Derbyshire particularly Gianpaolo is well known having taken the head chef role in a number of notable restaurants. Namely La Marina (Shardlow), La Villa (Littleover), Don Pancho (Belper), The Bulls Head (Belper), The New Inn (Milford) and The White Hart (Moorwood Moor). His philosophy has always been to provide food that people love, and moreover food that shows he loves what he does.
